    FireRed Exclusives

                Ekans and Arbok

Ekans and its evolution, Arbok, are one of the many FireRed exclusive Pokémon in the game.

Ekans the snake Pokémon evolves into Arbok at Level 22. It can be found in grassy areas across the overworld, specifically along Routes 4, 8, 9, and 10 among others.

Like Ekans, Arbok can also be found and caught in the wild along Route 23 and Victory Road.

Ekans and Arbok do not appear in the LeafGreen version of the game, instead, they are replaced with Sandslash and Sandshrew.

                Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume and Bellossom

Oddish and all its evolutions also only appear in the FireRed version of the games.

Oddish evolves into Gloom at Level 21. Gloom can evolve into either Vileplume or Bellossom depending on the stone used on them. Vileplume evolves with a Leaf Stone, while Bellossom evolves with a Sun Stone.

You can read up on where to find Oddish and how to get its evolutions, specifically Bellossom, in this article here.

In the LeafGreen games, Oddish and its later forms are replaced with Bellsprout and its evolutions.

                Psyduck and Golduck

Up next on our list of FireRed exclusives are Water Psyduck and Golduck.

Like Oddish, Psyduck is easily found so long as there are bodies of water. Take note though that you can only get Psyduck through surfing.

When caught and raised to Level 33, Psyduck evolves into Golduck.

Golduck can also be found in the wild, although it’s rarer. Surf and fish for Golduck in the Sevii Islands’ Berry Forest and Cape Brink. You can also find it in the original Kanto map, inside Cerulean Cave and the Seafoam Islands.

Psyduck and Golduck’s counterparts in the LeafGreen games are Slowpoke and its evolutions, Slowbro and Slowking.

                Growlithe and Arcanine

Growlithe and Arcanine also exist in FireRed only.

Growlithe can be found along Route 7 and 8, and inside Cinnabar Island’s Pokémon Mansion. It can evolve into Arcanine anytime so long a Fire Stone is used. Arcanine cannot be found in the wild, so the only way to get it is to evolve Growlithe.

                Shellder and Cloyster

Up next are Shellder and its evolution, Cloyster.

Shellder can be found along the shores of Cinnabar Island, Five Island, Pallet Town and Vermillion City to name a few. You need a Super Rod to catch Shellder (READ: How to Get the Super Rod in Pokémon FRLG).

When you use a Water Stone on Shellder, it will evolve to Cloyster. This is the only way to get Cloyster for your Pokédex as it’s not found in the wild.

Since Shellder and Cloyster don’t appear in the LeafGreen version, their counterparts on there are Staryu and Starmie.

                Elekid and Electabuzz

Another version-exclusive Pokémon, this time Electric-type, are Elekid and Electabuzz.

                Wooper and Quagsire

Wooper and Quagsire, while not Kanto-native Pokémon, are still exclusive only to FireRed.

Up next is Bellsprout and its evolutions. This Grass trio replaces Oddish and its evolutions in the FireRed version.

Like its counterpart Oddish, Bellsprout is abundant across the wild so long as you know to look for it in grassy areas. Raise it to Level 21 and you get its evolution, Weepinbell.

You can also find Weepinbell in the wild, namely in the Sevii Islands’ Berry Forest, Cape Brink and Water Path.

When you use a Leaf Stone on Weepinbell, it evolves into Victreebel. There is no other way to get it except through evolution.

                Slowpoke, Slowbro and Slowking

Up next, we have Slowpoke and its evolutions. They’re meant to replace Psyduck and Golduck in this version of the game.

Slowpoke can be found in almost any area with a body of water, so long as you have a Super Rod.

When you train it to reach Level 37, it will evolve into Slowbro. You can also find Slowbro in the wild. The Cerulean Cave and the Seafoam Islands are good places to look.

When you let Slowpoke hold a King’s Rock and trade it, it will turn into Slowking [READ: How to Get a King’s Rock in Pokémon FRLG]. This is the only way to get Slowking, as it’s not available in the wild.

                Vulpix and Ninetales

Vulpix and Ninetales are next on our list of LeafGreen-only Pokémon.

Vulpix can be found along Route 7 and 8, as well as the Pokémon Mansion, replacing Growlithe.

                Staryu and Starmie

Staryu and Starmie also make our list of LeafGreen exclusives. They replace Shellder and Cloyster in the game.

Staryu can be found in the wild through fishing with the Super Rod. You can find it more easily along the shores of Cinnabar Island, Five Island, Icefall Cave and Pallet Town, among others.

You need a Water Stone to have Staryu evolve into Starmie. This is the only way to get Starmie as you can’t find it in the wild.

                Magby and Magmar

Magby and Magmar our next. They are meant to act as counterparts to Elekid and Electabuzz in the FireRed version.

You can find Magmar in the wild on One Island’s Mt. Ember. You can’t find Magby in the wild as it’s a Baby Pokémon. Here’s the full guide on where to find Magmar and how to breed and hatch Magby.

                Pinsir

Up next is Pinsir, another LeafGreen exclusive.

It’s meant to be a counterpart to Scyther in the FireRed version, which is why you can also only find it in the Safari Zone.

                Misdreavus

Up next is Misdreavus, Murkrow’s counterpart in the LeafGreen version.
