Where To Play The Break The Urns! Minigame

You can only play Break The Urns! by going to the Olympus Coliseum, then selecting Vestibule as your destination:

World Map (Olympus Coliseum > Vestibule)

Once you’re in the Vestibule area of the Olympus Coliseum, all you have to do is find and interact with Hercules who should be located in the upper-left corner of the map, as shown in the image below:

Once you interact with Hercules upon completing his storyline, he’ll ask you if you have time for a little training. Select “Of course” to start the minigame.

And there we go, you now have access to the minigame along with the rewards you get from beating Hercules!

How To Play The Break The Urns! Minigame

The objective in Break The Urns! is to, hence the name of the minigame, break more urns than Hercules throughout the match. You can get a couple of rewards by winning matches here, which are:

Obtainable RewardsItem TypeRequirement
Sonic BladeAttack CommandBeat Hercules for the first time.
PanaceaItem Command (Consumable)Beat Hercules more than once.
Break The Urns! (Game Start)

Your movement controls remain the same as if you were in combat, and you can break urns by using either your basic attacks or Command Skills.

There are also four types of urns and barrels that you’ll encounter in this minigame:

  • Small Urns
  • Big Urns
  • Normal Barrels
  • Exploding Barrels
Small Urns (Highlighted)

Small Urns only give you one point when destroyed, but they take fewer hits to break and spawn more often than Big Urns or Exploding Barrels.

Big Urn (Highlighted)

Big Urns give you five points when destroyed, but take more hits to break and only a limited number of them spawn throughout a match. Even so, it’ll be wise to prioritize destroying them whenever they pop up.

Normal Barrel (Highlighted)

Normal Barrels do not have stars drawn on them. They allow you to roll around the coliseum and destroy every urn you collide with if you jump on them for up to ten seconds.

You won’t be able to use your Command Skills for a time throughout that ten-second duration, however, and you do not get any points once the Normal Barrels are destroyed upon using them.

Exploding Barrel (Highlighted)

Exploding Barrels, on the other hand, have stars drawn on them. When hit, they will be sent flying in the direction you hit them toward and explode, stunning anyone nearby.

Just like Normal Barrels, you also do not get any points after destroying Exploding Barrels.

How To Win The Break The Urns! Minigame

Listed below are three tips that you can use not only to beat Hercules but also to score lots of points to reach new high scores in the Break The Urns! minigame.

Tip #1: Use Multiple Copies of Magnega With Magic Haste

Magnega (Command Description)

Magnega  is the best Command Skill you can use in this minigame. It has a wide range, relatively quick Reload Time, and is more accessible than other top-tier commands in the game.

Do note that other offensive AoE commands such as Mega Flare, Tornado, Quake, Glacier, or Fission Firaga can be great alternatives, but they won’t perform as well as Magnega.

Abilities (Magic Haste)

Also, don’t forget to get as many stacks of Magic Haste as you can, since the less Reload Time your Magic-type Command Skills have, the more you’ll be able to spam Magnega in this minigame and get better scores!

Tip #2: Use Your Command Styles Wisely

Command Styles (Ghost Drive)

After using your Command Skills consecutively, you’ll be able to use Command Styles depending on what type of Command Skills you were using.

While using Command Styles may fit certain scenarios, such as when your commands are still reloading or if you don’t have any good offensive AoE commands on your deck, we still recommend that you don’t use them often.

Ghost Drive In Break The Urns!

This is because most Command Styles lock you in an animation and against a single target only, which can affect the number of urns you can destroy before the timer ends.

This is especially true if you spam Magnega, which activates the Ghost Drive Command Style. It’s great for visuals, sure, but Ghost Drive locks you in an animation where you only attack one urn for far too long.

Tip #3: Watch Out For Barrels

Hercules Winding Up A Regular Barrel

As shown in the image above, Regular Barrels can also be used by Hercules. Instead of riding it, he winds it up by spinning in circles, destroying all urns he comes into contact with.

This might be a problem if you’re not using multiple copies of Magnega to get ahead, so just remember to use Regular Barrels before Hercules gets a hold of them!

Aqua Gets Stunned By An Exploding Barrel

The same goes for Exploding Barrels. They can be hit by either your or Hercules’s attacks, but more importantly, both of you can still be stunned regardless of who hit it, as long as they’re near the explosion.

To avoid this, it would be best not to hit Exploding Barrels on corners where they can bounce right back to you. Aim carefully at Hercules first before hitting it to avoid a misfire.
