Where to Catch Ditto in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

You can catch Ditto in various areas in-game namely, Routes 13 to 15 near Fuchsia City, Cinnabar Island’s Pokémon Mansion, and inside Cerulean Cave. Capture Ditto to use his duplicating abilities in battle, or utilize it for breeding with almost any other Pokémon.

Routes 13 to 15

Perhaps the most accessible location to find Ditto is in the surrounding grassy areas of Routes 13 to 15. The route lies between Fuchsia City and Lavender Town.

Walk through any of the present tall grass in the area. You may encounter other wild Pokémon before you get to encounter Ditto.

Catch Ditto as you would any other Pokémon. It only has one move but it may imitate your Pokémon’s move set if you give it time to attack. Even so, Ditto does not prove to be a challenge to capture.

Pokémon Mansion

Ditto can also be found inside Cinnabar Island’s Pokémon Mansion. You can get to Cinnabar Island either from Fuchsia City or Pallet Town. You need to have a Pokémon that can use Surf to access the island. Alternatively, you can have your Pokémon Fly directly to town.

Dittos found in the Pokémon Mansion would be around Level 30 to 32.

Cerulean Cave

Lastly, Ditto can also be caught inside Cerulean Cave. To gain access to the cave, you need to have beaten the Elite Four and have finished Celio’s gemstones quest on Sevii Island.

Inside, wild Ditto’s level ranges from Level 50 to Level 60. This place is useful if you want to catch strong Ditto without having to train them yourself.

Ditto’s Use

Ditto is known for its duplication skills, meaning it can imitate its opponent’s form and move set.

Ditto only has one move, Transform at 10 PP, which enables it to transform into its enemy.

Since Ditto cannot evolve, it can be pretty limited when it comes to battle encounters. That said, Ditto is more suited for breeding as it can breed with almost every Pokémon, except for legendaries and fellow Ditto.

Because it is genderless, any potential mate of Ditto can either be male or female. The resulting egg that the pair will produce will always take the other Pokémon’s form. You can mix and match which Pokémon you want to breed with Ditto, and doing so may unlock unique and rare Pokémon such as baby Pokémon.

Try your hand at breeding Ditto and discover which new Pokémon you may add to your Pokédex collection!
