How To Get Thunder Surge In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

You can get Thunder Surge by combining Thundara with either Confusion Strike, Fire Dash, Freeze Raid, or Stun Edge. You can also buy copies of it from the Command Shop.

Thunder Surge is one of the most powerful offensive Command Skills in the game and is the perfect skill for beating bosses.

Upon activation, it allows your character to dash forward and damage all enemies in their path—all while being invincible for the duration of the dash.

Note that all playable characters (Aqua, Ventus, and Terra) can meld and use Thunder Surge in combat.

It is one of the most essential offensive Command Skills to have in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, so don’t forget to meld it no matter what character you’re playing!

Melding Complete (Thunder Surge With Thunder Boost)

You can buy all of the materials required to meld Thunder Surge from the Command Shop.

Command Shop

For example, you can purchase Stun Edge (150 Munny) and Thundara (600 Munny) from the Command Shop, which would be the cheapest combination to buy out the four.

However, you can also buy Thunder Surge for 700 Munny once you already have it unlocked in the Command Shop. It will be available for purchase as soon as you obtain one copy of it via melding.

This will only save you over 50 Munny, but at least you won’t have to level up Commands  you’ll need to use as materials this way.

Best Abilities For Thunder Surge

Menu (Abilities)

The two abilities that are essential to improve Thunder Surge’s performance in combat are Thunder Boost (increases damage dealt)and Attack Haste (decreases Reload Time).

You can get Attack Haste by farming and using Fleeting Crystals  as your Synthesis material when melding, and Shimmering Crystals  for Thunder Boost.

Using Thunder Surge In Combat

Thunder Surge (Command Description)

Thunder Surge allows all three playable characters to dash forward with a circle of lightning around them, dealing Thunder-type damage to enemies in their path.

Your characters are also invincible to enemy attacks while dashing. This, combined with Thunder Surge’s near-instant activation, makes it a downright broken skill to have.

Thunder Surge In Combat

Considering even most high-tier offensive Command Skills leave you wide open to enemy attacks during or after you cast them, using Thunder Surge in almost every fight is the best way to go.

This is especially true whenever you go against tougher bosses, as most of them cannot be staggered by your attacks and will spam combos that cancel your Command Skills if you take too long to cast them.

Having trouble beating a boss? Just equip Thunder Surge and spam it till you win!
